waxed / magazine redesign

A whole new breed of surf/ skate magazine, WAXED, was created from the collective combination of two well known classics, Thrasher and Surfer. I looked to redefine the original magazine’s rebellious, loud, and chaotic visuals through a calmer voice. I wanted to give the reader room to breathe and take the information in piece by piece while still representing that well known edgy surf/skate culture.
